This book could only have been saved with the help of ninjas. For example, if Faye had been killed by rival ninjas hired by his ex-girlfriends, Mark could have been consumed by his desire for revenge and studied to become a ninja, and when he achieved true ninja-ness, he would have destroyed them all. Doesn’t that sound like a more interesting story? I thought so.
